Giro Hex Bike Helmet Review

The Giro Hex Mountain Bike Helmet offers top features at a value price. With solid construction, great ventilation and a new fit system providing super adjustability and snug fit you want when trail riding.

What is good about the Giro Hex Bike Helmet

Solid construction – in-mold helmets are lighter and cooler than regular bike helmets. A  tough polycarbonate outer shell is fused with an impact absorbing foam liner to achieve this.

Great ventilation – this helmet features active 21 vents that allows cool, fresh air around the riders head while the stale, warm air out is forced out which helps on those warm days along the trails.

Adjustable visor – with an internal clutch that permits 15 degrees of vertical adjustment on the fly. It also stops the visor from coming loose or rattling during the ride over tough terrain.

Snug fit – features the new Roc Loc 5 fit system. Now you can easily dial-in both fit tension and adjust vertical position with a single hand without removing the helmet. Just twist the dial to ratchet up for a tighter feel on tough terrain, then back it off a notch and relax across the flats or a warm climb.  And the dual pods are designed to firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe.

Finally!! A helmet that fits as expected. Finally!! A helmet that fits. I have had trouble finding a helmet that will fit my gigantic head (25″ circumference) and this one does so perfectly and without making me look Rick Moranis playing Dark Helmet in the 1987 movie Spaceballs, like other big head helmets do. If you have a head that measures 25″ around, measured just above your eyebrows and around, this helmet will work for you and actually has just slightly a little extra room if you want it loosely seated upon your dome.

May have saved my dad’s life Decided to buy this helmet for my dad after some research. He recently got back into distance mountain/street biking, got a new bike, but continued to use the same 10 year old helmet that he used when he took me cycling. Knowing about the degradation of the materials used in all helmet, I new I had to buy him a new one.He tried it on, it fit great, and the color matched the CamelBak I got him months prior. On one of his adventures with a friend, he took a really hard spill after his handlebar caught onto a chainlink fence he was riding too close to. He didn’t have much time to break the fall, broke his wrist, and hit his head and shoulder really hard…When I say really hard, I mean hard enough to completely crack the material inside the helmet. He was left with small bruise on his forehead from the impact, but the design of the helmet not only saved him from any kind of head/brain injury, but also saved his face from any kind of contact with the ground…

Good value. Strap twist is not an issue. I like the value of this helmet although the comfort is not as high as a pricier helmet. You get what you pay for here, but that’s OK.The NightRider strap mount for my helmet light threads nicely through the vents so it looks natural and the light mount is secure. The straps are super thick heavy duty so any twisting would naturally be more noticeable with the wider straps. But there is a way to get rid of the twist (in response to other reviews). One must be patient and the method I use is to set the buckles at the bottom center under my chin, then set the angle between the forward strap and the aft strap. This can take some time, but only needs to be done once. Setting the angle can screw up the overall length setting so it may be several adjustments to get the forward strap coming straight down, forward of the ears, and the rear straps to run to the back of the helmet, again, away from the ears. Once the angle is set, you slide the buckle about two inches above the…
